Olin Eugene and Mabel Chloe (Davis) Upshaw had one daughter:
1. Margaret Eugenia Upshaw (called Eugenia), b. 9 July 1917 at Rosebud. When we were married she was almost ten years old - a pretty child, well-mannered, and smart as well. She specialized in dietetics and became Head Dietician at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. There, she met her future husband, Dr. Oscar Willis Carter (b. 4 June 1916, at Mars Hill, N.C.) who became a prominent urologist in Nashville, Tenn. They were married in the Emory University Chapel 27 December 1941. They have two sons:
(a) Gene Leonard Carter, b. 25 June 1945, Iowa City, Iowa, m. 7 June 1967 in Nashville, Deborah Anne Buffington, b. 13 July 1948 in Austin, Texas. THey have a son: (1) Scott Upshaw Carter, b 20 June 1968 in Memphis, Tenn.
(b) Jerry Upshaw Carter, b. 26 June 1948, Nashville, Tenn., m. 5 June 1968, Pamela Austin. They were divorced in 1971.
Eugenia has taken a refresher course in dietetics and expects later a career in this field. She and Oscar were divorced in 1968.

2. (1999) descendant & researcher: Rebecca Terrell, 500 Pelican Ave., St. 200, New Orleans, LA 70114. (Family Group sheet of William Wiley Upshaw mailed 9-20-1999). Mrs. Terrell believes his death date was in 1945; she states "he died at home in Austin, on West 14th Street".
