Harry Lee Upshaw, b 1 September 1893. He went to Emory University Medical Schgool, where he earned his M.D. degree, and interned at a hospital in Seattle, Washington. He entered practice in Social Circle, georgia; the fact that there was "family" there may have influenced his choice of location. Cousins John and Sanders Upshaw among other relatives, lived in Social Circle. Harry's wife - they were married 3 April 1917 - was thje former Ida Barron of Clarkesville, Georgia, born 6 June 1897, d. 15 Aug. 1974. Here was a large family: three of her brothers graduated from Gorgia Institute of Technology and were all famous football players. Her parents were David J. and Florence (Crow) Barron, who lived in Clarkesville, Georgia. Harry was a First Lieutenant, Army Medical Corps in World War I, serving in France until the Armistice.
She and Harry had two daughters - Jean, born 9 June 1920 and Peggy, born 28 September 1923, both born in Social Circle, Georgia. When I first knew these children they were dear little girls, six and three years old. Both girls were married at nineteen years of age.COMMENTS:
